Ingredients
- 1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes in juice (see Notes)
- 1 can (6 ounces) tomato paste
- 11/2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh basil leaves, or 2 teaspoons dried basil
- 11/2 teaspoons dried oregano
- 11/2 teaspoons sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon minced garlic
- 3/4 teaspoon table salt or l1/2 teaspoons kosher salt
Directions

n a medium bowl, combine the diced tomatoes, including the juice from the can, the tomato paste, olive oil, basil, oregano, sugar, garlic, and salt. Taste and add more salt, if desired. Use immediately, or store in a tightly covered container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days, or freeze for up to 2 months. Bring to room temperature before using.
