Mom’s Buttermilk Biscuits

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup shortening
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk

Directions

  1. In a bowl combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt.

  2. Cut in shortening until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

  3. Stir in buttermilk.

  4. Knead dough gently.

  5. Roll out to 1/2 inch thickness. Cut with a 2 1/2 inch biscuit cutter and place on a lightly greased baking sheet.

  6. Bake at 450 degrees for 10-15 minutes or until golden brown.

  7. About 10 biscuits.
