German Pecan Pie
(from cokerlj’s recipe box)
Very good, impressive, easy!
This is absolutely nothing like a traditional pecan pie. It has also been called “Surprise Pecan Pie” or “Wyatts Mystery Pecan Pie”.

Ingredients
- 3 egg whites
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup pecans chopped
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 10 inch graham crust
- Cool Whip
Directions
-
Beat egg whites until foamy.
-
Add sugar very gradually, beating continually until soft peaks form.
-
Gently fold in pecans and vanilla.
-
Pour into graham pie crust.
-
Bake at 257 degrees…yes 275 degrees is not a typo…for 40 minutes.
-
Cool for at least 2 hours at room temp before serving. This pie will be very puffy and tall, as it cools it will fall in on itself so don’t think you did anything wrong.
-
Serve with a dollop of cool whip on each individual piece, don’t pile cool whip on the pie…just each piece as served.
