Ingredients
- 1 pound chuck roast/chuck steak
- 1 package dry onion mushroom soup mix
- 5 carrots
- 4 potatoes
- 1 1/2 cups water
- garlic salt, salt & pepper to taste

TIP: The chuck roast needs to be a fairly thin “roast”. The one we used was really called a chuck steak, tenderized.

Get your dutch oven hot over coals. Brown roast on one side, sprinkle with a little garlic salt, flip over and brown on the other side and sprinkle with dry onion-mushroom soup mix.

Add carrots cut up into small chunks, throw into oven.

Add potatoes cut up into chunks, throw into oven.

Sprinkle everything with just a little salt and pepper.

Pour water into oven.

Place over coals with some coals on top. Check after 30 minutes to see if you need extra water.

Cook for a total of 45 minutes or until carrots and potatoes are tender.
