Haven’t tried.
I’ve done beer can chicken before…but not with this rub. Sounds pretty good, maybe I’ll cut back on the red cayenne pepper some though.

Ingredients
- 1/4 cup paprika
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 2 teaspoon dry mustard
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- -
- 1 whole chicken, 4 to 5 lbs
- 1 12 ounce can of beer
- 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
- Mesquite chips (or your favorite smoking wood)
- Drip pan
Directions

Combine ingredients for Spice Rub Mix in bowl. Set aside.

Clean chicken and pat dry. Coat inside and outside with several tablespoons of Spice Rub Mix.

Refrigerate at least 1 hour.

Preheat grill for indirect cooking with mesquite chips at medium heat.

Pour out 1/3 beer from can. (why waste it…drink it…duh)

Add lime juice to can of beer and place on drip pan in center of grill. Position chicken upright over can.

Sprinkle chicken with more Spice Rub Mix.

Cook on covered grill 1 hour.

Remove chicken and let it rest upright for 10 minutes before discarding can.

Carve and eat.
