Egg Custard Pie

Ingredients

  • 4 slightly beaten eggs
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups warm milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)

Directions

  1. Prepare standard 9-inch pastry shell. Do not prick. Fit second pie pan on top of pastry to keep pastry from puffing and bake at 425 degrees for 10 minutes. Remove second pie pan.

  2. Combine, beating together well, and pour into partially baked pastry shell the eggs, sugar, salt and milk.

  3. Sprinkle top with optional nutmeg.

  4. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes or until knife inserted in center comes out clean.
