(from cokerlj’s recipe box)

Don’t need a funeral to make these. Very yummy!

Ingredients

  • 12 Kings Hawiian rolls (one package)
  • 1/2 to 1 pound a good quality deli sliced ham, Black Forest ham
  • 10 to 20 slices Swiss cheese. OR provolone
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • Dash onion powder
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons poppy seeds OR sesame seeds (optional)

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

  2. Spray a pan that will hold the package of rolls with Pam. Slice the rolls apart so you have a big slab of all bottoms and a slab of tops of buns/rolls.

  3. Place the bottom slab of rolls into the pan.

  4. Layer on as much ham as you would like. Then layer on as much cheese as you would like. The original recipe calls for Swiss cheese, bit I would use the alpine lace cheese OR provolone. Don’t worry about overlapping ham and cheeses.

  5. Top with the top slab of the rolls.

  6. Combine melted butter, worchestershire, Dijon mustard brown sugar and onion powder. Brush or drizzle over the rolls.

  7. You can bake immediately for about 25 minutes or until cheese is melted. But most versions of this call for you to tightly cover and refrigerate for a minimum of 4 hours, then bake as directed. You can sprinkle with optional poppy seeds or sesame seeds prior to baking.
