Choclate Chai Snickerdoodles

Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp ginger
  • 1 tsp. cardamon
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. allspice
  • 1/4 tsp. white pepper
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 1/4 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup baking cocoa
  • 2 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. In the large bowl of mixer stir together sugar, ginger, cardamom, cinnamon and allspice. Remove 1/2 cup to a shallow pan.
  3. Add butter to remaining sugar mixture. beat until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs and vanilla.
  4. In another bowl, whisk flour, coco, cream of tartar, baking powder and salt; gradually beat into cream mixture.
  5. Shape dough into 1 1/2 inch balls. Roll in reserved sugar mixture. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheets. Flatten slightly with bottom of a glass.
  6. Bake 10-12 minutes oe until edges are firm. Cool on a wire rack.
