Brownie Cake

butter can be substituted with shortening (melted), do NOT use margarine! RESIST THE TEMPTATION to add more flour. Batter will be very thin. Walnuts can be added to the batter and sprinkled on top. No need to frost.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2/3 cup butter, melted
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/2 cup water, boiling
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 cup flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/3 cup cocoa
  • walnuts (optional)

Directions

  1. Sift dry ingredients first.

  2. Cream sugar with butter.

  3. Add vanilla.

  4. Beat in eggs and water.

  5. Add dry ingredients, beat well.

  6. Walnuts can be added to the batter, and/ or sprinkled on top of cake.

  7. Pour into 2, 8" pans, greased and floured.

  8. Bake at 325 for about 40 min.

  9. No need to frost.
