Nutella Ice Cream

Ingredients

  • 2 lg. fresh whole eggs
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 2 cups heavy cream, cold
  • 1 cup milk, cold
  • 3/4 cup nutella
  • 1/2 cup hazelnuts, chopped

Directions

  1. Whisk eggs in a mixing bowl until light and fluffy, 2 minutes. Whisk in sugar, a little at a time, then continue whisking until completely blended, 1 minute more.
  2. Add nutella and whisk to blend. Pour in the heavy cream and milk a little at a time and whisk to blend.
  3. Pour mixture into an ice cream maker and freeze, following manufacturer’s instructions.
  4. After ice cream stiffens, ( about 2 minutes before it is done). add the hazelnuts, then continue freezing until ice cream is ready. Transfer ice cream to a container with a lid and place in freezer for at least 8 hours or until firm.

  5. For creamier ice cream: beat eggs and sugar together; add milk. Cook, whisking until it reaches scald temperature. Remove
  6. from heat and set aside. (should have thickened like custard). Put nutella in a bowl and slowly add half the cream, blending until smooth. Add remaining cream to custard , blending well, then add nutella mixture to custard. Then freeze as above.
