Ingredients

  • 1 lb butter (1/2 butter & 1/2 marg is ok)
  • 2 lb flour (abt 4 c)
  • 1/2 c sugar
  • 1 tsp salt

Directions

  1. With butter very soft stir in sugar & salt. Add flour 1c at a time w/hands.

  2. Keep working until mixture holds together and not curmbling. Maybe done in portions and worked in one ball later. Divide in 2parts. Press on lightly floured board abt 1" thick or less. Cut in snall squares. Prick with fork 3 times. Bake 300F 30 mins. Watch-should be pale in color. Time will depend on thickness of dough – also depends on amt of butter used. Let stand 10-14 days in air tight container for flavors to blend.

  3. Personal Notes: They are good right way but even better after they have aged.
