Mom’s Shoyu Chicken

Good variations include sliced oranges and/or star anise.

Ingredients

  • 5 lb chicken
  • 1 cup shoyu
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/3 - 1/2 cup sugar/honey
  • ginger
  • garlic

Directions

  1. Bring all ingredients, except chicken, to a boil.

  2. Add chicken and bring to a boil

  3. Simmer 40 minutes.
