Chocolate Chai Snickerdoodles

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp. ginger
  • 1 tsp. cardamom
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. allspice
  • 1/4 tsp. white pepper
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup baking cocoa
  • 2 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  2. In a large bowl, mix first 6 ingredients.
  3. Remove 1/2 cup to a shallow dish.
  4. Add butter to remaining sugar mixture, and beat until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs and vanilla.
  5. In another bowl, whisk flour, coca, cream of tartar, baking powder and salt, gradually beat into cream mixture.
  6. Shape dough into 1/2 inch balls. Roll in reserved sugar mixture. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheets. Flatten slightly with bottom of a glass.
  7. Bake 10-12 minutes or until edges are firm. Cool on a wire rack.
