Cuban Sandwich

Ingredients

  • 1/2 loaf Cuban bread (see note)
  • Yellow mustard
  • 3 slices Virginia ham
  • 3 slices roast pork
  • 3 slices Swiss cheese
  • 4 slices sweet pickle
  • Vegetable oil

Directions

  1. Slice the Cuban bread horizontally; spread yellow mustard on both halves.
  2. On bottom half, place the Virginia ham, roast pork and Swiss cheese. Follow up with sweet pickle. Close sandwich with top half of bread.
  3. Place the sandwich on a sandwich grill (or in a lightly greased skillet or on a griddle, weighing the sandwich with a heavy skillet).
  4. Cook until hot and cheese is melted. Slice diagonally across the middle and serve.
  5. Note: If Cuban bread is not available, consider French bread or another crusty loaf.
