Steak Soup

Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb ground chuck
  • 1/2 C onion, chopped
  • 1/2 C celery, chopped
  • 1/2 C carrots, chopped
  • 1 stick butter
  • 1 C flour
  • 1 qt plus 1 C water
  • 1 tsp Accent
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 1 Tbsp beef soup base
  • 1 C tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 1/2 tsp Kitchen Bouquet
  • 1 C frozen mixed vegetables, thawed

Directions

  1. Brown and drain ground chuck, set aside.

  2. Parboil onion, celery, and carrot; drain and set aside.

  3. Melt butter in 2-quart saucepan and add flour; mix well.

  4. Add water and stir until thickened.

  5. Add Accent, pepper, soup base, and tomatoes.

  6. Cook one minute more, stirring constantly.

  7. Add Kitchen Bouquet, mixed vegetables, ground chuck, and onion, celery and carrots.

  8. Cook on medium heat 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
