Norwegian Apple Pie

Ingredients
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup butter or margarine
- 1 egg
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- I tsp. nutmeg
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 2 1/2 cups diced apples
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts
- 2 Tbsp. hot water
- Rum sauce:
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup rum
Directions
- Heat oven to 325 degrees.
- Combine sugar and butter. Add egg, then the dry ingredients, apples and nuts. Stir in the hot water. Pour into 9-inch pie plate and bake 40 minutes.
- Serve warm with rum sauce.
- For the rum sauce: In a saucepan, combine the brown sugar and cream and bring to a boil. Boil 1 minute. Add rum.
