Red Plum Jam

Ingredients

  • 3 lbs. red plums
  • 4 cups sugar

Directions

  1. Wash and pit the plums. Put through food chopper, using coarse blade, measure 5 cups.
  2. In kettle or Dutch oven combine plums and sugar and let stand 1 hour.
  3. Boil hard, uncovered, until syrup sheets off metal spoon, 8 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat; quickly skim off foam with metal spoon. Pour the plum mixture at once into hot, sterilized half-pint jars; seal.
  5. makes 5 half-pints
