Ingredients
- 12 tart apples
- 1 sweet red pepper, minced
- 2 cups cider vinegar
- 1/2 cup red-currant jelly
- 2 cups sugar
- juice of 4 lemons
- 2 green peppers, minced
- 1 cup chopped raisins
- 1 cup slivered almonds
- 1/2 cup diced preserved ginger or 1 Tbsp. ground ginger
- 1 Tbsp. salt
- 1 stick cinnamon, cracked
Directions
- Peel and core apples, then cut in large pieces. Mix with remaining ingredients in kettle or Dutch oven.
- Bring to a boil and simmer, stirring occasionally, 30 minutes, or until thick. Pour into hot, sterilized jars, seal and process in hot water bath for 10 minutes. Store in a cool, dry place.
