Sweet Dill Strips

Ingredients

  • Fresh medium-size cucumbers
  • 2 heads fresh dill for each jar
  • 3 3/4 cups vinegar
  • 6 cups granulated sugar
  • 3 Tbsp. salt
  • 4 1/2 tsp. celery seed
  • 4 1/2 tsp. turmeric
  • 1/4 tsp. mustard seeds

Directions

  1. Wash cucumbers and cut into strips for pint jars.
  2. Pour boiling-hot water over then to just cover. Do not cook. Let stand for about 4 hours. Drain and pack into jars with a head of dill in the bottom.
  3. In a saucepan, bring the vinegar, sugar, salt, celery seed, turmeric and mustard seeds to a boil. Immediately pour over cucumbers. Top with another head of dill. Close jars and process in a boiling water bath for 5 minutes.
