Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups flour
- 1 1/4 cups sugar
- 3/4 cup dark brown sugar, packed
- 1 cup cocoa powder
- 1 1/4 tsp. baking soda
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2 1/4 cups buttermilk
- 1 cup unsalted butter, room temp.
- 2 lg. eggs
- 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
- 6 oz melted semisweet chocolate.
Directions
-
Put everything but the melted chocolate into a mixing bowl. Mix at low speed for 30 seconds, scraping bowl.
-
Add the melted chocolate, mix all at high speed for 3 minutes, stopping to scrape the bowl now and then. I melt chocolate in the microwave. 45 seconds on high to start, stir, then 20 second increments until done. Just stop while there are still little tiny chocolate bits—they’ll melt while you stir it and that way you know you won’t burn the chocolate.
-
Spoon into 2 8″×2″ cake pans, buttered and lined with parchment. (I just buttered them and it worked but I have nonstick pans)
-
Bake for 45 to 50 minutes, until toothpick comes out clean.
-
Frost and eat. With milk. yummmm.
