Homestyle Kosher Dill Pickles

Ingredients
- for each quart jar:
- 1 head fresh dill
- 2 or 3 cloves garlic
- 1 small red or green hot pepper (optional)
- Fresh, firm cucumbers, washed
- 2 quarts water 1 quart distilled or cider vinegar
- 1 cup non-iodized salt
Directions
- Place the dill, garlic and pepper in the bottom of the jar. Add cucumbers.
- In a saucepan, bring the water, vinegar and salt to a boil. Pour over cucumbers and seal. Pickles will be ready in 3 or 4 weeks., depending on size of cucumbers.

Note: For plain dill pickles, omit garlic.
