Cranberry Chutney

Ingredients

  • 1 (24 oz.) bottle maple-flavor syrup
  • 1 (16 oz.) pkg. cranberries
  • 5 cups peeled, cored, chopped apples
  • 1 1/2 cups raisins
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1/3 cup lemon juice
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. finely chopped onion
  • 1/4 to 1/2 sp. ground cloves

Directions

  1. Combine all ingredients in a 4- quart saucepan. Bring to a boil. Stir frequently. Reduce heat, simmer uncovered, 40 to 50 minutes or until thick, stirring frequently. Reduce heat, simmer uncovered, 40 to 50 minutes or until thick, stirring frequently as mixture thickens.
  2. makes 7 cups.

  3. Optional addition: 1 Tbsp. cumin seed
