Ingredients
- 1 stick of butter
- Herbs/seasonings (garlic, salt, pepper, parsley, etc)
- Small bowl
- Plastic wrap or wax paper
Directions
-
Let your butter sit on the counter until it has softened. (In a hurry? Heat in the microwave on 50% power for a few seconds at a time until it’s soft) 2.Add butter to the bowl and mash it up with a small spoon or spatula. 3.Add your chosen herbs and/or spices. Note: I would suggest adding small amounts, say a 1/2 teaspoon at a time, until you get a feel for how strong the flavor will come through. You can always add more. 4.Mix the butter and herb mix together until blended. 5.Spread out a small piece of plastic wrap or wax paper and scrape the herbed butter into the center. Form/roll into a log shape, keeping it towards the center of the paper. Then twist the ends and fold underneath, storing in the fridge or freezer until needed. When you’re ready to serve the butter, gently unwrap the roll and slice as needed. If frozen, let it sit out for a moment before slicing it into pieces. And that’s it! You can use this very simple recipe for a variety of flavors and uses. My first two butters were used immediately in my house on toast pieces and in dinner’s mashed potatoes! I also love that I can make it ahead of time and put it away until I need it, especially with the holidays coming up. What flavor combinations will you be making in your house
