Steamed Date Pudding

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. dates
  • 1/2 lb. suet
  • 3 cups bread crumbs
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 4 Tbsp. flour
  • 2 tsp. baking powder

Directions

  1. Grind dates and suet very fine. Mix with bread crumbs and add sugar. Add remaining ingredients and mix thoroughly. Fill greased pudding mold 2/3 full, cover tightly and steam 2 1/2 to 3 hours. Serve hot with Caramel, Custard, Orange or Vanilla Sauce.
