Ingredients
- 1 cup finely chopped dried figs
- 1 cup raisins
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts
- 1/4 cup diced citron
- 1/2 cup packed finely chopped suet
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp. each baking soda and baking powder
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp. ground cloves
- 1/8 tsp. nutmeg
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 1/2 cup undiluted evaporated milk
- Hard Sauce
Directions
- Put first 5 ingredients in large bowl. Mix dry ingredients, add to ingredients in bowl, and mix well. Combine molasses and milk, add to fruit mixture and mix thoroughly. Press into 8 greased custard cups. Cover with plastic wrap twisted to hold tightly or with squares of waxed paper secured with string. Set on rack in large kettle with tight-fitting cover. Add boiling water to depth of about 1 inch. Bring to boil, reduce heat and steam about 40 minutes. Serve warm, with sauce.
