Ingredients
- 1 cup suet (pressed down and run through a coarse food chopper)
- 1 cup raisins
- 1 cup dark syrup
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1/2 cup currants (optional)
- 2 even tsp. soda
- Pinch salt
- Flour
Directions
- Combine all ingredients except flour and mix well. Add just enough flour to make a stiff dough. Place into greased 2- quart baking dish and steam in steamer on top of stove for at least 1 1/2 hours or until done. Serve with lemon sauce or plain cream. Reheat by re-steaming.
