Ingredients
- 2/3 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup water
- grated zest of 1 lemon
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1 1/2 cups fresh or thawed frozen blueberries
- 1 Tbsp. lemon juice
- 1 Tbsp. cherry-flavored brandy (optional)
- 1 egg white
Directions
- In a small, heavy saucepan, stir together the sugar, water, lemon zest and cinnamon stick. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Reduce the heat and simmer for 5 minutes. Remove from the heat and let the syrup cool, then remove the cinnamon stick.
- Puree the blueberries in a processor. Add the syrup, lemon juice, cherry brandy and egg white. Pulse the machine until thoroughly blended.
- Pour the mixture into an ice cream maker and churn following manufacturer’s directions, about 15 minutes.
