Ingredients
- 1 Tbsp. cornstarch
- 5 Tbsp. sugar
- pinch salt
- 1 cup cold water
- 2 tsp. maple flavoring
Directions
- Combine cornstarch, sugar, salt and water in small saucepan; mix well.
- Cook mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly, until syrup thickens and bubbles. Lower heat; simmer 1 minute. Remove from heat; stir in maple flavoring.

Low-calorie honey syrup: Substitute 1/4 cup honey for the sugar and omit the maple flavoring.

Makes 1 cup-18 calories per tablespoon.

Ten-calorie Maple syrup: Reduce sugar to 2 1/2 tbsp. After removing syrup from heat, stir in sugar substitute to equal 4 Tbsp. sugar.
