Gaston Beef Stew

Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb salt pork
  • 2 lbs beef
  • seasoned flour(flour, salt and pepper)
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 beef bouillon cube
  • 1 c hot water
  • 8 ounces tomato sauce
  • 12 peppercorns
  • 3 cloves
  • 1/4 c chopped parsley
  • 1/2 bay leaf
  • 1/2 c cooking sherry
  • 6 quartered potatoes
  • 6 chopped carrots or baby carrots to equal 6
  • 1 stalk celery, chopped

Directions

  1. Cut pork and meat into stewable pieces. Saute pork over low heat. Brown meat in hot drippings over hot heat. Sprinkle with seasoned flour. Combine nxt nine ingredients until boiling. Place meat in sauce pan and pour sauce over it. Simmer for three hours, then add sherr and tenderly cooked vegetables. Simmer 1 hour.
