Ingredients
- 1/2 cup water
- 3 squares (3oz.) unsweetened chocolate
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Directions
- Into a small saucepan pour the water; add chocolate. Place over low heat to melt chocolate stirring constantly. Gradually add sugar, stirring to dissolve sugar after each addition. Continue to cook, stirring, for 5 minutes. Remove from heat. Add butter and vanilla and stir until butter is melted. Set pan aside to cool completely; do not stir during cooling.
- If sauce is to be served within a couple of hours, leave at room temperature. If made farther ahead, pour into a glass jar, cover, tightly and refrigerate. Remove from refrigerator an hour or two before serving time and place in a pan of hot water (off heat) to soften.
