Iced Ginger Tea

Ingredients

  • 12 cups water
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 3 inches fresh ginger, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 12 to 16 green tea bags

Directions

  1. Combine the water, sugar, and ginger in a large saucepan. Bring to boiling; reduce heat. Simmer, covered, for 5 minutes. Add tea bags. Cover; steep 3 minutes.
  2. Remove tea bags. Strain and discard ginger. Transfer tea to a 2-gallon, heat proof pitcher or punch bowl. Cover and chill for at least 2 hours.
