Watermelon Basket

Ingredients

  • 1 medium size watermelon
  • 2 pins strawberries
  • 1 lb. grapes
  • 2 cantaloupes
  • 2 pints blueberries
  • 1 honeydew melon

Directions

  1. Take a pencil and mark the watermelon two-thirds of the way up with a scallops or zigzag line all the way around. Follow line with a sharp knife, cutting through melon. Lift off top piece.
  2. Scoop out watermelon and make balls or bite size pieces. Store in plastic bags. Scoop the melon right down to the “white” and dry with paper towels. Line bottom and sides with paper towels. Cut cantaloupe and honeydew
  3. in pieces or make balls and place in plastic bags. Hull strawberries. Do not wash until ready to serve. Place in plastic bags. Place all fruit in plastic bags on top of paper towels in watermelon basket and refrigerate overnight.

  4. Dry inside of basket again before serving, if necessary. Assemble just before serving.
  5. Place melon pieces on the bottom, with strawberries, grapes and blueberries on top. The grapes and blueberries also may be washed and ready in plastic bags, if you wish.
