Ingredients
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1 cup evaporated milk
- 3 packages yeast
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup warm water
- 8 cups unsifted flour
Directions

Pour boiling water over shortening, sugar and salt; stir until melted.

Add milk and mix until cool.

Dissolve yeast in 1/2 cup water.

Allow to soften and mix well.

Add to shortening mixture and mix well.

Add eggs and beat well 1 minute by hand or 1/2 minute with electric mixer.

Stir in 4 cups of flour which makes a soft dough.

Let stand 10 minutes.

Then add remaing flour.

Place in buttered pan, brush top with butter and cover with damp cloth. Allow to rise twice.
