Bistecca Pizzaiola

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 4 tender steaks
  • 2 garlic cloves, chopped
  • salt and pepper
  • 28 oz can Italian peeled tomatoes, drained and chopped
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • pinch crushed red pepper

Directions

  1. In a large skillet, heat the oil over medium heat. Pat steaks dry. Add to pan and cook, turning once, until browned on both sides. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Transfer meat to a platter.

  2. Scatter garlic into the pan and cook for 1 minute. Add tomatoes, oregano, red pepper, and salt. Bring sauce to a simmer. Cook for 20 minutes.

  3. Return steaks to the sauce. Cook briefly, turning the steaks once or twice, until they are warmed and cooked to taste. Serve hot.
