Caramel Apple Pie

Ingredients

  • Pie filling:
  • 6 to 7 cups peeled and sliced Granny Smith apples
  • 1/2 lemon, juiced
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • Crumb Topping:
  • 1 1/2 sticks (12 Tbsp.) unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup quick oats
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 cup pecans, chopped
  • 1/2 jar (or more) caramel topping

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  2. Filling: In a bowl, mix apples, lemon juice, sugar, flour and salt.
  3. Topping: Cut butter into flour with a pastry cutter, add in brown sugar, oats and salt.
  4. Add apples to prepared pie shell and tp with crumb topping.
  5. Bake 1 hour, covering edge of crust with foil if it starts to brown too quickly. Sprinkle chopped pecans over pie, and bake 5 more minutes.
  6. Remove pie from oven and pour 1/2 jar (or more) caramel topping over the top. Cool slightly before serving.
