South Carolina Mustard Barbecue Sauce

Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup yellow mustard
  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 cup cider vinegar
  • 1 tbsp ancho powder
  • 1 tbsp chipotle powder
  • 1 tbsp guajillo powder
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp white pepper
  • 1 tsp crushed red pepper
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 tbsp Louisiana hot sauce
  • 1/2 tsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp butter

Directions

  1. Combine all of the ingredients except soy sauce and butter in a medium saucepan. Simmer the mixture over medium-high for 10 minutes, or until sugar dissolves. Remove the sauce from heat. Stir in soy sauce and butter.

  2. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
