Ingredients
- 1 (N0.2 or 20 oz.) can sour red cherries
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 Tbsp. butter
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/2 cup water
Directions
- Heat oven to 400 degrees. Drain cherries, reserving 1/2 cup of the juice.
- Combine cherries the 1/2 cup juice and sugar in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, and butter. Remove from heat.
- In a mixing bowl sift flour, baking powder and salt. Add water and mix well. Pour into a well-greased 9-inch square pan. Top with hot cherry mixture. Bake 40 minutes.
