Best Brownies

Ingredients

  • Brownies:
  • 4 oz. unsweetened chocolate OR 6 Tbsp. unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup butter OR margarine
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 3 eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • Frosting:
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine
  • 3 Tbsp. unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 6 Tbsp. milk
  • 1 lb. confectioners' sugar

Directions

  1. Heat oven to 325 degrees. Grease a 9 × 13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a double boiler or saucepan set over low heat, melt chocolate and butter, stirring frequently. Remove from heat. Add the sugars, vanilla and eggs an mix well. Then stir in the flour, salt and nuts. Pour batter into the prepared pan. Bake 20 to 25 minutes.
  3. For the frosting: In a small saucepan, melt the butter and cocoa, then add the milk and bring to a boil. Boil 2 minutes. Remove from heat.
  4. Ass the confectioners’ sugar and beat until smooth. Spread on hot brownies.
