Apple-Almond Bake

Ingredients

  • 2 (12 oz.) pkg. Stouffer's Harvest Apples
  • 6 Tbsp. butter or margarine
  • 20 shortbread cookies, crushed
  • 1/2 cup sliced almonds
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon divided
  • 1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
  • 2 Tbsp. brown sugar
  • Vanilla ice cream
  • Garnished; toasted almond slices, cinnamon

Directions

  1. Thaw apples in microwave at medium 6 to 7 minutes; let stand 2 minutes.
  2. Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat; add cookie crumbs and almonds. Cook stirring constantly, 2 to 3 minutes. Remove from heat; stir in granulated sugar, 1/2 tsp. cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. Combine brown sugar and remaining 1/2 tsp. cinnamon; sprinkle in bottom of a 1 1/2 quart baking dish. Layer with half each of apples and cookie crumb mixture; repeat layers.
  4. Bake at 375 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes.
  5. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream; garnish if desired.
