Ingredients
- 1 1/2 lbs ground beef
- 1/2 lb Italian sausage
- 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning
- 12 slices mozzarella or provolone cheese
- 24 pepperoni slices
- 1/2 red onion, very thinly sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, seeded and sliced into thick rings
- 1/2 cup jarred marinara sauce
- 4 white mushrooms, thinly sliced
- 4 Kaiser buns
- butter, for toasting
Directions
-
Combine the ground beef, sausage, and Italian seasoning in a large bowl. Mix thoroughly until it’s all combined. Form the mixture into 4 equal-size patties.
-
In a large skillet, cook the burgers over medium heat for 4-5 minutes on the first side, then flip them, reduce the heat to low, and lay 2 slices of the cheese on each one.
-
Top with a layer of pepperoni slices, along with some red onion slices. Next, place a bell pepper ring on top. Spoon in a little marinara and fill the rest of the bell pepper with sliced mushrooms. Lay a third slice of cheese on top.
-
Place a lid on top of the skillet and cook the burger for 3-4 minutes more, to let the cheese really melt.
-
Meanwhile, toast the buns with a little butter on a separate skillet or griddle until golden brown. Spread both sides with a little marinara. Then put all together.
