Pain Perdue (Lost Bread or French Toast)

Ingredients
- 1 can (5 oz.) evaporated milk
- 2 eggs, well beaten
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 6 slices French bread
- 1 cup oil or butter
- powdered sugar
Directions
- Mix together evaporated milk, eggs sugar, and vanilla; dip each slice of bread into this mixture, coating well. Drain off excess batter and fry in hot oil at 375 degrees until brown; turn and brown other side.

Drain on paper towels and sprinkle with powdered sugar.
