Green Bean CAsserole

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine, divided
  • 1 (8oz.) pkg. sliced fresh mushrooms
  • 2 Tbsp. all-purpose flour
  • 2 cup milk
  • 1 lb. fresh green beans, trimmed
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1/4 cup Italian-seasoned breadcrumbs
  • 2 Tbsp. butter or margarine, melted

Directions

  1. Melt 2 Tbsp. butter in a large saucepan over medium heat; add sliced mushrooms, and sauté 10 minutes. Whisk in flour and 2 Tbsp. butter until smooth.
  2. Gradually add milk; cook, whisking constantly, 10 minutes or until thickened. Add green beans, salt and pepper. Pour into a lightly greased 2-quart baking dish.
  3. Stir together breadcrumbs and 2 Tbsp. melted butter; sprinkle over green bean mixture.
  4. Bake casserole at 350 degrees for 20 minutes or until bubbly.
