Ingredients
- 1 cup butter or margarine softened
- 1 cup confectioners' sugar
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 1/2 tsp. almond extract
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp. salt
- Frosting:
- 3 cups confectioner's sugar
- 6 Tbsp. butter or margarine, softened
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 2 to 4 Tbsp. milk
- Food coloring optional
- Colored sugar, optional
Directions
- In mixing bowl cream butter and sugar. Add egg and extracts; beat until light and fluffy. Combine flour and salt, add to creamed mixture and mix well. Chill for 1-2 hours.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll dough to 1/8 inch thickness. Cut with 2 1/2-inch cutters. Place on greased baking sheets.
- Bake at 375 degree for 7-9 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool on wire racks.
- For frosting, in mixing bowl, beat sugar, butter, vanilla and milk until creamy. Add a few drops of food coloring if desired. Frost cookies, decorate with colored sugar if desired.
