Ingredients
- 1 pkg. yeast
- 2 Tbsp. lukewarm water
- 5-5 1/2 cups sifted flour
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 3 tsp. baking powder
- 4 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 cup shortening
- 2 cups buttermilk
Directions
- Dissolve yeast in lukewarm water. Sift together dry ingredients; cut in shortening. Add yeast and buttermilk to dry mixture. Knead enough to together; roll dough 1/2-1/3 inch thick. Cut with small biscuit cutter and fold in half. Bake at 400 degrees for 15-20 minutes. Dough may be chilled before baking or frozen for later use.
