Angel Biscuits

Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. yeast
  • 2 Tbsp. lukewarm water
  • 5-5 1/2 cups sifted flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 3 tsp. baking powder
  • 4 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 2 cups buttermilk

Directions

  1. Dissolve yeast in lukewarm water. Sift together dry ingredients; cut in shortening. Add yeast and buttermilk to dry mixture. Knead enough to together; roll dough 1/2-1/3 inch thick. Cut with small biscuit cutter and fold in half. Bake at 400 degrees for 15-20 minutes. Dough may be chilled before baking or frozen for later use.
