Ingredients
- 2 cup chopped tart apple
- 6 Tbsp. butter
- 1 Tbsp. instant coffee crystals
- 1 tsp. hot water
- 1/2 cup whipping cream
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1 Tbsp. baking powder
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 2 Tbsp. coarse sugar
Directions
- Cook apple in 2 Tbsp. butter until tender and liquid is almost evaporated, attiring often; cool

slightly. Dissolve coffee in water; stir in cream. Mix flour, 1/3 cup sugar, baking powder and salt; cut in remaining butter until pieces resemble coarse crumbs. Add apples and coffee mixture; stir just until dough clings together. On a lightly floured surface, knead 6 times. On an ungreased baking sheet pat dough into an 8 inch circle. Top with coarse sugar. Cut into 12 wedges; separate slightly. Bake in a 400 degrees oven for 20 to 25 minutes or until done. Cool slightly; separate. Serve warm.
