Ingredients
- 1 28 oz. can crushed tomatoes
- 1 1/2 tsp. red wine vinegar
- 1/2 tsp. granulated garlic or garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp. dried basil
- 1/4 tsp. dried oregano
- 1/4 tsp. dried thyme
- 1/4 tsp. ground black pepper
- 1/4 to 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 to 1/2 cup water
Directions
- In a medium bowl whisk together all ingredients except salt and water. Taste sauce and whisk in 1/4 cup water and enough salt to taste. If necessary, add more water to thin to a spreadable consistency. Taste again and adjust the salt, if needed.

Spicy Puttanesca Sauce: Add 1/2 cup chopped Kalamata olives or black olives, 1 Tbsp. capers and 1/2 tsp. crushed red pepper.
