Apple Pie 1963

Ingredients
- Caramel Sauce:
- 28 caramels
- 1/2 c evaporated milk
- Crust;
- 2 1/2 c flour
- 1/4 c sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 c butter
- 1/4 c oil
- 1/4 c water
- 1 beaten egg
- Apple filling:
- 6 c sliced apples (6 apples)
- 1 c sugar
- 1/3 c flour
- 1 -2 tsp grated lemon peel
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- Topping;
- 1 8 oz pk cream cheese
- 1/3 c sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/3 c chopped nuts

Topping

Combine caramels and milk. Cook over low stirring constantly until melted (keep warm)

Crust:

Combine flour, sugar and salt. Cut in butter.

Add oil, water and egg. Mix well.

Press into bottom and side of un-greased pan.

Apples:

Combine all apple filling ingredients.

Spoon into crust.

Drizzle caramel over top.

Topping:

Combine all ingredients except nuts. Beat well.

Spoon over apples, spread slightly. Sprinkle nuts.

Bake at 375 for 35-45 minutes. Cool
