Asparagus Casserole

Ingredients

  • 1 can asparagus (2 cups)
  • 1 can tiny English peas (2 cups)
  • 14 oz. can mushrooms
  • 1 5 oz. jar sharp cheese spread
  • 1 1/2 cup fine bread crumbs
  • 1 stick oleo
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 Tbsp. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt

Directions

  1. Melt 1/2 stick oleo in double boiler, add flour, milk to make white sauce.

  2. Add cheese spread and stir until melted. Put aside.

  3. Butter 8 × 10 baking dish. Melt rest of oleo and mix with bread crumbs.

  4. Spread drained asparagus on bottom of baking dish, then drained peas. Sprinkle half of bread crumbs.

  5. Spread drained asparagus on bottom of baking dish, then drained peas. Sprinkle half of bread crumbs over this layer. Add mushrooms.

  6. Pour cheese sauce over the top and spread remaining bread crumbs.

  7. Bake 12-15 minutes at 400 degrees.
