Whiz Wit Yo! Philly Cheese Steak Fried Onions

Ingredients

  • 2-2.5 lbs of ribye steak sliced very thin
  • 1 large vidalia onion
  • 1 jar of Cheez Whiz brand cheese
  • 4 Amoroso or Steak Rolls
  • 4 oz. of Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 1 tablespoon of Kerrygold unsalted butter (or high fat content butter)

Directions

  1. Slice steak rolls in half but not all the way through.
  2. Dice Onion to about a ½ inch by ½ inch squared.
  3. On medium heat, fry up onions with a little Extra Virgin Olive Oil and a tablespoon of good (fatty) butter. It takes a good 20-30 minutes to gently caramelize the onion.
  4. Grab a pot of water, make a water bath and bring it to almost boil. Place Whiz jar in to melt cheese.
  5. Wet a skillet, with EVOO, Cast Iron preferred.
  6. Add the sliced ribeye steak, cook till it is evenly browned but not burnt.
  7. Just prior to the steak being done, around 30 seconds. Add onion to the steak and mix well.
  8. Split the steak and onions between all sandwiches.
  9. Spread a generous amount of Cheez Whiz on all sandwiches and serve!
